‘The Magic is within you’

Huna is for everyone: any race, gender or age.

Huna literally means hidden secret.

Huna is a modernistic classification given to an ancient belief system thought to have originated before 325 AD. Before Huna a mystery order existed that could be called The Order of ‘Io, the beliefs of which are similar to Huna.

Only fragments of this exist around the earth, because starting in 325 A.D. (it may have started as early as several thousand years B.C., but the effects were definitely under way by 325 A.D.) an attempt to eradicate the balanced systems of the earth initiated. Sometime between 750 and 1250 A.D. Hawaii was effected by this wave of belief system eradication. *

Mystery orders have always existed, most having been historically persecuted and at times even completely eradicated. In India, the system of Tantra was very nearly wiped out; in Western Europe the practice of Wicca has been widely persecuted; in Australia and the Americas the native people have suffered greatly at the hands of others who wished to destroy both their teachings and culture. However, in Hawai‘i, fortunately, the original teachings of the ancestors were successfully preserved by being hidden away within the chants and Hulahula (Hula dances) of the Ancient Ones.

Aloha is the most famous word in Hawai‘i. To many it is a salutation, however in the Hawaiian language (as with many other sacred languages) it contains a hidden code or meaning:

A Aha (Glowing chord) With intent comes creation and essence

L Loa (Length) Extending, lengthening, touching

O O (Root foundation) Building on a strong foundation

Ha Ha (Breath, life) Imbued with the sacred breath of life

A Ao (World, light) You create the light in your world

Notice that the letters of each root word are integrated into the word Aloha. This process of disassembling words points to a clue in decoding the magic of Hawaiian words generally, or finding their kaona, or hidden meaning. In Hawaiian, not unlike the Kaballah, words are timeless and create the very thing they describe. Breaking down the words helps us manifest that which the words themselves describe.

Huna is one of the original sciences of healing and spiritual development. As a practice, Huna helps us develop spirituality and personal empowerment. It also helps increase our metaphysical healing powers, as well as our vibrational energy. We do this by becoming aware of the purpose of consciousness, which is the force within us that brings us closer to that which we truly are: spirit, connected to the higher power.

We are all masters of mana, our true creative power, and Huna teaches that each of us carries within us the very essence of god. In Hawai‘i, one skilled in the teachings of this consciousness and these mysteries is known as a Kahuna or Kahu, which is a kind of minister.

With Huna we can achieve love, happiness and success and live in a state of peace and harmony, even in a complicated and at times uncertain world. The ability to live in this state of harmony is called living lokahi. We live lokahi when we finally begin to move and act within the full purpose of our consciousness. Lokahi is a type of consciousness-blossoming, and also demonstrates Ao — the last letter in the world Aloha — and means to actually lift our vibration.

Although Huna is original to the Hawaiian people, it is believed its teachings are based on other teachings far older, dating back approximately 35,000 years. These teachings belonged to no race in particular, but rather to all the people of earth, and came from a great land known as Lemuria or Mu. This land spanned the distance from Australia to as far north as California and then eastward, on to what we now call Japan. The people of Lemuria were a harmonious race, and in many ways far more developed than the “modern” people of this age. They used telepathic communication, for example, as well as shells, crystals and stones in their healing work. It is said that a massive tidal wave ultimately destroyed Lemuria, though portions of it still remain — these portions can now be seen in the glorious mountain peaks of the island chain called Hawai‘i.

Hawai‘i is a beautiful, enchanting land filled with mystery, wonder and magic. Huna is the ancient practice of Hawai‘i, and through it we connect not only to our higher selves, but also to the ultimate highest power from which we originate — which is the power that flows through us all. Huna connects, emboldens, empowers and sweetens life.

We all come from and have access to this power, which is why Huna is for everyone.
